GreenGeeks Web Hosting Review

With data centres in Chicago, Phoenix, Montreal, and Amsterdam, GreenGeeks Web Hosting is a beginner-friendly hosting company. For those who are interested, it offers normal shared hosting, VPS hosting, and reseller hosting.

Everything is very typical, but there is a twist. GreenGeeks Web hosting definitely wants you to think it’s a good host, as do all of them, but it also wants you to know it’s morally and ethically sound. Because it’s all about the green, both in terms of business and in terms of environmental sensitivity.

GreenGeeks Features

  • “WordPress hosting” and “web hosting” are listed separately on GreenGeeks’ website, however, they are essentially the same thing. The only significant distinction is between the hosting plans themselves: the basic plans allow you to host one site, while the other two allow you to host an unlimited number.
  • On all three plans, you receive limitless storage and bandwidth as long as you’re only hosting websites, not every copy of the Encyclopaedia Britannica in scanned bitmap graphics. You can also create as many subdomains, MySQL databases, and email addresses as you like.
  • But there’s also cPanel and Softaculous, as well as anything else you’ll need (which can install hundreds of different CMS and web apps in just a click or three). If you want to keep it simple, there’s a handy small site builder programme, as well as free site migrations if you currently have a site hosted elsewhere.
  • A dedicated IP address (a common add-on available from most hosts) is included in the more advanced package, and there is supposedly a “performance” difference between the two.
  • The LiteSpeed web server is the best thing since cheese (particularly, Cheddar or Oaxaca), but unfortunately, not many hosts use it. It’s quick, dependable, and integrates seamlessly with WordPress. This reduces processing time and system resources, allowing your website to handle more users — and do so more quickly.
  • You can install the free Let’s Encrypt SSL, which takes seconds to set up and provides a padlock to safeguard you and your visitors. You might also choose the AlphaSSL Wildcard, a premium SSL solution that can handle and protect even the most sensitive of projects.
  • GreenGeeks are, as their name implies, green. It’s so eco-friendly that it matches 300 percent of your energy consumption with renewable energy credits. That means that by hosting with GreenGeeks, you’re making a difference and contributing to a better world.
  •

Ease of use

  • GreenGeeks built and designed the real account area of the dashboard (Plans, Billing, and Support), and they did an excellent job with it. It’s stylish, well-designed, and simple to use. Many businesses who try to create this portion of the service themselves fail miserably, so compliments to you. cPanel takes care of the rest. You already know what to expect if you’ve used it before.
  • Greengeeks utilizes a ridiculously bad fraud detection system that effectively flags signup efforts left and right, so getting an account activated took two days. GreenGeeks isn’t the only one that thinks this way. Many other hosts appear to be using the same approach, and this has occurred to me previously, but I’m not going to overlook it just because terrible business practices are popular.
  • As usual, Softaculous can be used to install WordPress. If you’re familiar with cPanel, you already know how incredible this is. The benefit for everyone else is that you can easily install hundreds of alternative CMS and web apps.
  •

Performance

You have to build up a WordPress test site to simulate an actual working site in order to thoroughly test GreenGeeks’ performance. It was a high-end page including high-resolution photos, animations, and the etc.

Complete page loading times averaged 1.7 seconds, global loading times averaged 1.832 seconds, and site uptime was a respectable 99.991%. On paper, everything looks excellent, but the servers struggled to maintain consistent performance.

Support

GreenGeeks absolutely excels in this area. Hands down, GreenGeeks delivers the best assistance of any other host.

Pricing

The monthly pricing is very standard, however, joining up for a longer-term can save you a lot of money. You can choose from one of three payment terms: one, twelve, twenty-four, or thirty-six months. If you pay for 36 months in advance, you’ll only have to spend about $2.49 per month.

Within the first 30 days, you can get a complete refund, and 12-month and longer contracts come with a free domain. Purchasing the domain from GreenGeeks is not inexpensive, and it is not recommended
